Job title: Short-term Missions Program Assistant  

Reports to: International Short-term Coordinator

Action International Ministries is a nonprofit organization that takes the Gospel and compassionate care throughout the world! Our USA headquarters is located in Mountlake Terrace, Washington, where our staff provides administrative services so that our workers overseas can concentrate on their ministries. We are looking for a Short-term Missions Program Assistant to join our team! 

The ideal candidate will have an interest in cross-cultural missions, experience serving overseas, a heart for discipleship, general computer knowledge, strong organizational skills, and a willingness to learn. This position also requires that the individual raise funds for their salary through support raising (training and coaching is provided). It is a full-time position (32+ hours per week) that includes having national holidays off and personal days. The position does not offer health insurance.  

Working with the International Short-term Coordinator, the Short-term Missions Program Assistant will be responsible for the following:  

• Responding to inquiries from those interested in serving as an intern or on a short-term team on one of ACTION’s fields; 

• Vetting candidates through email and later by phone or video interview;  

• Communicating with field missionaries about potential short-termers; 

• Facilitating video calls between candidates and field missionaries by moderating the calls; 

• Walking with candidates through ACTION’s online application process; 

• Taking trips (as able) to visit ACTION missionaries to better understand ministry opportunities and the on-field logistics for short-termers;  

• Help create budgets for short-termers by collaborating with field workers and the Finance Department;

• Coaching, mentoring, and discipling short-termers as they prepare for their trip and while they serve on the field;  

• Staying in regular contact with short-termers while they are on the field, praying for and encouraging them as they serve, and maintaining contact with the field missionaries (hosts) as well; 

• Debriefing short-termers once they have returned from the field; 

• Representing ACTION at local colleges, missions conferences, and churches seeking to mobilize people for short-term or long-term service with ACTION; 

• Providing input for improvements to the program as well as ideas to grow and better promote it. 

Basic requirements:  

• Must be a follower of the Lord Jesus Christ who lives according to biblical principles 

• Must be proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, as well as Gmail
